Maritime Training Courses
1. Health and Safety Representatives Course (Initial) (Maritime). This Seacare Authority approved course is designed to provide initial training to Health and Safety Representatives. The course duration is three days and candidates must hold a valid Certificate of Competency or undergo an assessment of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). It is a mandatory requirement that all declared Australian vessels under the Navigation Act has at least one trained Health and Safety Representative onboard at all times.
Duration: Three Days.
Cost: AUD$1 100.00 + GST
Qualifications: Seacare HSR Status; Partial completion of a Certificate III in OH&S.
2. Health and Safety Representatives Course (Refresher/Bridging) (Maritime). This Seacare Authority approved course is designed to refresh Health and Safety Representatives in their obligations and responsibilities. This is a mandatory requirement under the Seacare 2008 Health and Safety Representative Guidelines.
Duration: Two Days.
Cost: AUD$750.00 + GST
Qualification: Re-Validation of Seacare HSR Status.
3. Ship and Company Security Officer Training. The Ship Security Officer and Company Security Officer course is approved by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority and meets the requirements of STCW95. This course is a mandatory requirement for all Ship Security Officers. The course is presented by a Flag State approved International Ship and Port Facility Security Code Inspector and addresses not only the mandatory requirements, but provides advice and guidance on the most effective means of achieving a positive security posture.
Duration: Two days.

Qualification: STCW95 Compliant Ship Security Officer Endorsement.
4. Port and Port Facility Security Officer Training. The two day Port Security Officer and Port Facility Security Officer courses are based on the requirements of the International Maritime Organisation’s model Port Security Officer’s Course. This course is a mandatory requirement for all Port and Port Facility Security Officers. The course is presented by a Flag State approved International Ship and Port Facility Security Code Inspector and addresses not only the mandatory requirements, but provides advice and guidance on the most effective means of achieving a positive security posture.
Duration: Two days.

Qualification: ISPS Compliant Port or Port Facility Security Officer Endorsement.
5. Designated Person Ashore (DPA)/Safety Management System (SMS) Managers Course. The DPA/SMS Managers Course is more that just an ISM Auditing Course. The aim of the course is to provide practical guidance to Masters and shore-based managers on achieving systems’ harmonisation and integration considering the often conflicting requirements of the ISM Code, ISO Quality, ISO Environmental, OH&S, ISPS and SOLAS. The course assumes a basic understanding of the principles of management systems and is directed towards Masters, the Designated Person Ashore and shore-based management staff.
Duration: Two Days.

6. ISM and ISPS Internal Auditors Course. This highly interactive two day training programme is designed for those people who require a sound understanding of the techniques and principles of Maritime Auditing. It also covers the role of the Internal Auditor in the development and improvement of an effective shipboard management system, focussing on the requirements of the ISM and ISPS Codes. The course is presented by a Flag State approved ISM and ISPS Auditor and addresses not only the mandatory requirements, but provides advice and guidance on the most effective means of undertaking effective audits.
